Monday morning I strolled down the produce aisle in search of apples when I discovered these. It made my heart sing to realize I hadn’t missed the season’s strawberries. I hadn’t suspected it was time for cases of raspberries yet, but there they were. So I loaded my cart with four cases of raspberries (1 to eat, 3 for jam) and the last two cases of strawberries I expected to see at my local grocery store this year. As I continued shopping in the produce section my cart caught the eye of the produce grocer.
“If you want more strawberries, I’ve got some in the back,” he said.
“Oh, could I have two more?” I asked.
“Sure.” He disappeared into the back room and emerged with two cases of strawberries.
“Thanks,” I said as he stacked them into my cart, “Could I get one more?”
“One more?”
“If that’s okay.”
“Sure.” Once again he vanished into the receiving room. When he set the final case in my basket he said, “That’s a lot of jam.”
“I freeze lots for smoothies, too,” I explained and pushed my cart towards the check out hoping to avoid further queries.
So there might be a few posts featuring recipes with berries in the near future. Meanwhile, we’ll just enjoy the berries.
I love berries and wish I would have done some jam this year. Sigh . . .
Thanks for stopping by Julie. Congratulations on getting an agent. I’ve nearly got my manuscript ready for more editing.
Yum. Raspberries and strawberries! I don’t know if I’m going to get any jam done this year. I really haven’t seen a very good price on berries, yet. Lucky you.
