I know, I know, I’m shouting, but I’m a tad bit excited. Eight and one-half months ago I submitted my novel to Covenant Communications. Today I received an email from the managing editor. Here are a couple of my favorite parts:
- Congratulations! Covenant Communications has accepted your novel, Falling Awake, for publication.
- The plot is unique, and the characters are rich and multifaceted. (Wow. The managing editor wrote this! How exciting is that to hear about your work?! Okay, enough with the exclamation points.)
- All of us involved in the review of your manuscript and the decision about its publication felt it was a creative, compelling story that would resonate well with the LDS market.
I’ll be assigned an editor in the next month or so and then the revisions will start. But for now, I’m enjoying the moment.
Oh yes, savoring the moment. And crying. And smiling. Thank you Covenant for believing in me and giving me this opportunity! (Now I’m done with the exclamation points.)
OUTSTANDING!!!! (More exclamation points) You worked hard for this. Enjoy the moment.A new baby boy and your novel being accepted. Both started at about the same time. Both coming to fruition at about the same time. Life must seem great right now.
I’m not.*
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*”Now I’m done with the exclamation points.”
This is fantastic news! (see, there’s another one! Oooh, again! Someone make them stop.)
I can’t help notice the timing of “eight and one-half months ago.” Since I hadn’t yet seen your previous post, I truly thought THIS was your birth announcement.
Congratulations!! That’s so exciting and a great reward for all your hard work.
Kate, I am so happy for you! Wow, I’m stunned. Especially since I remember seeing this ms. photo over a year ago, and now it’s going to be a book! It looks like you picked the right publisher to submit to. Well done, you!
Hooray! I am so excited! YAY YAY YAY! I’m so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you’ve done. Good job! Woohoo! We can be Covenant sisters!
Did I mention I’m excited?
Very cool, Kate. Congrats! I am very happy for you. 🙂
no way!!! congrats!!! so they really do take that long to get back to people??? I’m so happy for you!
Congratulations–and welcome to the Covenant family! 🙂
Congratulations! Can’t wait to hear more about your book.
Congratulations! I’m going down the same path. I got the blessed email back in June (after waiting 9 months) and just was assigned an editor last week. Yay!
When did they say your book is tentatively scheduled for?
Robert, Thanks for your enthusiasm. Life is pretty great right now.
Jenni, You make me smile. I could NOT have done this without you. You are an exceptionally talented writer and even better friend.
Amie, Welcome to my blog and thanks for your encouragement.
Karen, Stunned is an apt description! So much to say. I may have to send you a message before VOX gasps its last breath.
Krista, One day you and I, sister, have got to meet in person and go to lunch–even if it means I have to drive 12 hours to do it. You spread so much happiness it’s contagious.
Mariion, Thanks. I didn’t even know you read my blog. BTW–thanks for writing about how to pull tendons to make a cut off chicken foot move. Processing chickens this year was extra fun.
Tamara, They truly take that long. Because of all the stories I’d heard by now, I became more guardedly optimistic as the months passed. Good luck with your book launch. Do you have a date yet?
Annette and Stephanie, Thanks for the welcome. How did you know? I’m feeling a little dizzy that well known authors I’ve never met are commenting on my little blog.
Damsel in Dis Dress, Congratulations! and good luck with the editing. They said early 2012. What about you?
THAT’S SO STINKIN’ AWESOME!!!
I’m so excited for you! Congratulations!
Chas
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So exciting! I am so happy for you! Congratulations! We have to talk! I know I used a lot of exclamation points and yes it was intentional! Love ya sis!
Kate, I would love to get together someday! And happy baby! I always said I could have had a baby in the time it took Covenant to accept my book, and look! You DID!
Oh, and I may have put the word out about your acceptance to a bunch of authors on Twitter. We get excited about newbies!
Chas, Thanks for being happy for me.
Shandrae, Whew! Can you believe it? Loved your voicemail! Tanks! Tanks! Tanks!
Krista, Oh …. Twitter. Thanks for the announcement.
I am so happy for you. This is a great accomplishment. You really stuck to it and did it. Great things to come from this you you and your family. Congratulations Sister.
You Rock! Congrats! Congrats!
Kate, Congrats again. I’m so glad that you called. I really am so proud of you and everything you’ve accomplished while writing a book! You are an inspiration to me! Especially getting published on your first try! Way to go!
